This Vancouver-based consulting engineering firm has been fantastically successful and has been growing in leaps and bounds. However, their drafting department has outgrown the "small company" of doing things and they now need a leader. This person would start with a team of nine draftspeople and then grow that team to fourteen in the next six months. The right individual will have an ability to act as a hub for the work that needs to be done. They will be able to assess their staff and determine areas for professional development. They will be able to enact and enforce standards for AutoCAD work.
We're not looking for a field marshall barking out commands here. The drafting team is eager to bring in a leader and to see their team evolve to the next stage. They have a lot of work to get done (1700 drawings in 18 months!). They need a person that combines a supportive, almost paternal approach to their team along with a determined vision of what that team can become.
The nature of the work is more heavy civil and structural work. Most of the drawings are concrete layouts, along with some general civil projects and bridges. Most of the work will be drawings for construction, but there still is a significant graphics portion for a stockholder, stakeholder, government approvals official audience.
We need either a proven, senior draftsperson (10-15 years of AutoCAD) that is ready to take the next step in their career, or a drafting division manager that would like to be part of a growing team focused on delivering green energy projects worldwide.
